Renovation in difficult economic times

In the years preceding the economic crisis, our country had experienced an unprecedented boom in building and construction activity. Hundreds of thousands of new apartments and detached houses were rebuilt in the years from 1995 to 2010, offering housing to thousands of households and work for thousands of workers, employed in nearly two hundred occupations related to the construction.The low interest rates and the unrestricted money supply from the banks, made many of us either to buy an apartment or to rebuild, buy land and build our own house.
However, from 2010 onwards, when bank lending was stopped and cash was reduced to a dramatic extent, there was a decline in the issuance of new building permits. As a result, new constructions and apartment or house sales, fell to unprecedented levels. The crisis struck construction more than any other industry.
At the same time, however, something began to move in the area of renovations of old residences and apartments. With the economic tightness that exists the only way to survive, for some owners of old homes, is to repair and renovate their home. For housing or commercial reasons, refurbishment is a very good proposal when other options are de facto limited.

THE STAGES OF RENOVATION

So, if you planning to renovate your home, we will try to outline the basic steps for a fundamental overhaul renovation.
1. An important part of the renovation is the design of your new home. Design the location of furniture, electrical or electronic devices, select colors, lighting, libraries, shelves or the cupboards that will be created. Also choose the bathroom and kitchen tiles, parquet flooring, new window frames or your new energy fireplace. Design them in your mind, on paper or in the computer, select the materials, make a cost, work and materials budget.
2. Starting the renovation. Prior to all operations, check or disconnect all the networks: electricity, water, sewerage, gas. The person in charge of the renovation must have full knowledge of all network lines for safety reasons.
3. Removal of old furniture, kitchen countertops and electrical appliances, dismantling tiles or parquet and sanitary ware. Removing old radiators, fixtures, gypsum, frames and even plaster from walls if necessary. Disposal of debris.
4. Time of creation.
Our plumber undertakes the necessary work to properly install the water supply except the bathroom and kitchen sink and the electrical appliances that require water for their operation (washing machine and dishwasher). Control or reconstruction of the drainage network.
Electrical installation. New lines for lighting or sockets. If the electrical installation is old you will need to change the control panel to get your new devices to work properly. Always keeping your safety in mind, our electrician will design and build the power grid to suit your needs. In cooperation with our electrician you can choose your luminaires because adequate lighting is a very important factor for comfortable and happy living.
Creating new walls, partitions or rooms. Made of plasterboard or built with bricks.
Now it’s time for the floors. Tiles, Parquet or Marbles: Depending on your available budget, the choices and qualities are countless. Once the tiles have been placed in the bathroom, the sanitary items should be placed in case of new ones or put back in place the old ones.
Aluminum window frames. A very important part of the renovation and for many the main reason to start a refurbishment. The new window frames provide you with energy upgrading, economy, warmth in the winter and coolness in the summer and, of course, noise reduction from outside environment. So be extra careful when choosing your new frames, you can avoid many future problems.
Creating shelves, cupboards, kitchen countertops. Our carpenter or plasterer will create the necessary storage spaces where you want in order to have the right aesthetic. You can also create a composition of plasterboard in your living room that will have space for your books, audio and video devices, for example, or even include your fireplace.
Installation of radiators, air conditioners (if any), or your new energy save fireplace. Assuming there is a chimney, otherwise we will install a new one.
Painting your home. After choosing the right colors to suit your taste, our painters will paint of your home. Some decorative stone can be placed in some places in your living room, giving you an added aesthetic surplus in your space.

Finally, lights, curtains, furniture, decorative objects will be placed. This is the beginning of your new life in your new home.
